iOS 8.4 jailbreak already completed, planned for release later today [Update: available now]

taig

With the release of iOS 8.4 today, many users found themselves faced with the decision to upgrade now or wait until a jailbreak is available so they can continue using their tweaks. That choice just got a lot easier, as the Taig development team has announced that the exploits used in their 8.3 jailbreak are all still available in the new update.

According to a post on the Taig team’s Weibo page, an 8.4-compatible version of the jailbreaking tool will be made available within the next hour or so. The message, when translated to English, reads:

At present, after the official release iOS8.4 only one hour, PP jailbreak jailbreak assistant copied the loophole used by Tai Chi, imitation iOS8.4 jailbreak tool. We strongly condemn the violation assistant PP jailbreak hacker spirit of plagiarism infringement and will take legal action! Taiji jailbreak iOS8.4 jailbreak tool is orderly conduct internal testing. After rigorous testing tool after, we will be officially released in 1 hour!

The first part of the post refers to a tool released by a competing development team that stole the exploits used in the previous version of Taig to quickly release “their own” 8.4 jailbreak. The same company has previously released shady software that installed a piracy-focused App Store clone on jailbroken devices.

You’ll be able to download the new Taig release from the team’s website later today. [Update 2: it’s out now]

[Update: Taig has published the same message to Twitter, seen below.]

  1. Lockinfo is enough reason to Jailbreak. Hey Apple, Lock Screen widgets for iOS9 please!

I hope this doesn’t give Apple the opportunity to patch it in iOS 9 before it’s released. I almost wish they just kept the jailbreak a secret until september.

If jailbreaks are this easy, then Apple really needs to work on iOS security.

    • /dev/null (@unixninjax) - 9 years ago

      Jailbreaks are far from easy.

    • jpatel330 - 9 years ago

      they did in iOS 9

    • proudinfidelusmc - 9 years ago

They are NOT that easy, otherwise we wouldn’t be waiting months for jailbreaks to be released. Jailbreaking/hacking an iPhone or any computing device is different when you have physical access to it VS trying to hack it remotely. iOS is relatively secure.

    • You are wrong, taig release the jailbreak strategically(one week before Apple release 8.4 update), so he/they ensure that Apple Security Guys don’t have enough time to fix the exploit used to jailbreak. You must know that took almost 7 months to release jailbreaking for ios 8.3.

So many people having issues for one reason or another. Some are saying you have to use an older version of iTunes, not x64, etc..

I can confirm that you can jailbreak using the latest TaiG with the latest version of iTunes. I’m on a 15″ MacBook Pro running Windows 10 with Parallels. You can see I’m on the latest version of iTunes by the icon which in on the latest version of iTunes that just got released today with Apple Music/Beats 1.
