iTunes 12.3 arrives with two-factor authentication support, bug fixes, and more

Apple has just released a new version of iTunes to accompany today’s iOS 9 update. The update introduces brand-new support for two-factor authentication when logging into the store, providing an extra layer of security for users who take advantage of that particular feature (and you should).

Also included in the update is a set of bug fixes for using Apple Music with VoiceOver, recently played radio stations not being listed, and “loved” songs on iOS not syncing back to the Mac properly. Apple has also fixed a bug related to the Up Next feature not allowing users to reorder upcoming songs.

Finally, the update adds support for iOS 9 and Mac OS X El Capitan.

You can download the new version of iTunes now through the Software Update option in the Mac App Store or from the iTunes website.

I should have brought my laptop to work to update my phone so I wouldn’t keep getting error messages on my phone.

I cannot download the new iTunes since I am on Snow Leopard. Booooooo I reverted my older IMac back to snow leopard because it runs very smooth and still brand new. Now I cannot sync my 6+ with my iTunes boooooooooo bad apple.

buy more ram for like $100 and you can upgrade to the latest without the performance compromised

I maxed out my iMac’s RAM to 32GB, and every “upgrade” to OS X since Snow Leopard has been slower than the previous. This week I removed all non-essential startup items—some of which improved my productivity quite a bit—in an effort to get my SSD startup time closer to the 15 seconds it was under SL. It had gotten to the point where I was waiting five minutes and more. Like activeness I have a 6+, so downgrading iTunes is out of the question. Otherwise I’d be back to SL in a heartbeat. iTunes 12 has nothing I want that version 10 (or even earlier) didn’t. Not particularly looking forward to El Capitan.

Unfortunately the freeze bug, which was introduced in 12.2, has not been fixed. If I edit tags while in Albums view, the system will freeze for two minutes. If I’m using an AppleScript on a album, it may freeze for 30 minutes or more. The workaround is to creat a playlist from the selected tracks. The bug doesn’t happen in Playlist or Songs view.

Widget is gone. Why is this? (El Capitan GM)

And still doesn’t fix the issue where users can’t enable iCloud Music, thus rendering Apple Music unusable (can’t save songs/playlists for later use).
