AT&T is quietly offering buy one, get one free deal on the iPhone 6s

AT&T is offering a buy one, get one free deal currently on many of its popular smartphones, and while it’s not listed likely due to Apple, we’ve learned that iPhone 6s is actually eligible.

You won’t find any mention of iPhones in AT&T’s advertising for the deal— in fact, it’s promoting the Samsung Galaxy S6 as the standout device for the deal— but we’ve confirmed with AT&T reps that iPhone 6s is also included and eligible for customers to include in the offer.

Not surprisingly, the deal will require AT&T Next, it’s monthly financing plan, and you’ll need to keep service with AT&T on the devices for at least 30 months to get the free device via bill credits that kick in after three months. The fine print:

“When you buy both on AT&T Next with qual. svc. (min. $70/mo.). Free after up to $650 in 30 monthly bill credits. (Credits start within 3 bills). Tax due at sale… Free device req’s new line on AT&T Next 24 with 30-mo. 0% APR agmt (up to $21.67/mo.). Pay up to $65.01 on free device before credits start. If svc. canceled on 1, that device balance (up to $950) is due. Activ./upgrade & other fees, monthly & other charges & restr. apply. Void in CT, RI & Miami-Dade.

But if you already plan on staying on AT&T Next for a while, and you’re looking to buy some iPhones (or  eligible Android devices), the deal will get you two units at a price you’ll be hard-pressed to beat elsewhere.

And while it looks like you can’t take advantage of the deal online, we’ve been assured that you can indeed use it for the iPhone 6s if you call in over the phone or head to an AT&T store in person.

The deal will end December 31st, so you have a couple more weeks to take advantage of the BOGO offer.

I work an an AT&T retail store. You have to buy an iPhone to get another iPhone free and the same with android. You cannot buy one android and one iPhone. It must be the same OEM. As well as there must be a new line of service. 2 upgrades do not qualify for this offer. So 2 new lines are eligible as well as one upgrade and one new line combo. There is no limit to how many BOGO you can get as long as you qualify.

I currently have 3 lines up for upgrades. Can I do the following and still get the offer:
Add a line (4th line) and buy two iPhone, one on the new line (4th line) and one on the old (1st line).
Cancel line the 3rd existing line.
Swap the Sim from the 4th line to an older phone and use the new phone with the 2nd line.

So the iPhone wouldn’t actually be used on the same line as it was initially opened with for the new line of service.

    • i have a question. so when you upgrade an existing line to iPhone 6S, you get another iPhone for free, which will be a new line.

if I choose to early terminate the upgraded iPhone (to unlock it) and pay the early termination fee, will I still get the credits for the 2nd iPhone on each statement?

What do existing customers get? I have been with AT&T for over 4 years (switched from T-Mobile) and see nothing gets offered to existing customers.

I went bought two iphone 6s’ on Saturday. Key details to the plan are you must be adding a line and the free phone must be on the installment plan for 30 months. You will get a bill credit each month to offset. Basically that keeps you as an AT&T customer for 30 months. I was lucky that I was adding a line now for my youngest daughter. Also I am not looking to move from AT&T. So there are plenty restrictions on the deal, but really to get $650 of discounts you would expect that.

Question 1 – Did this deal really expire on 12/31/15 or was it extended? I just now heard about it.
Question 2 – We have 2 lines to be “upgraded” which are month-to-month contracts. Could we add a line to get the deal and drop one of the month-to-month lines?

I was told about this offer from AT&T store today. I wanted to do more research and make sure there’s no hidden gotcha before decided to do this and happened to run into this informative post.

What I said above should have answered your first question, yes they are still doing this (or start doing this again) and this offer applies to Galaxy S7 and Edge as well.
I’m not sure about your 2nd question but I believe so, since they can’t stop you from dropping your no contract/no installment phone. If they have issue doing that, just drop it first and go in and get a new line.

Are there any disqualifications that will permit you from getting you bill credit for the free phone in this offer?
