Latest Apple Campus 2 flyover gives up close look as exterior nears completion [Video]

AC2-2016-Feb-1

Apple’s under construction Campus 2 building in Cupertino is rapidly taking shape as this latest flyover video from Duncan Sinfield shows.

The video gets us as close to the site as we’ve seen yet with the video showing a ton of progress made on the main circular building that will house a large portion of the total 13,000 or so employees the campus will hold.

Evidence that Apple is nearing completion on at least the exterior of the main building can be seen at around 45 seconds in the video where Sinfield notes you can see the roof being lifted in place, and we also get our best shot yet at the large glass panels Apple has been installing on the main building as of a few months back.

In addition, the flyover also gives us a tour of progress on the surrounding campus including the parking structure, auditorium and other buildings now nearing completion. As noted in the full video below, Apple can be seen putting the finishing touches on the entrance to its large underground auditorium located on-site but away from the main building. We previously got an up-close look at inside the auditorium before Apple recently put the roof on, as can be seen in the video below.

We’ve been keeping track of the project since before Apple broke ground at the site, and we’ve compiled a timeline of the progress that we’re continually updating with the latest drone flyovers, official shots from the City of Cupertino and Apple, and news surrounding the project.

The company plans to start moving in sometime after completion currently scheduled for the end of the year.

It’s a shame that the “mountain” isn’t permanent. It would be wonderful to see it as a permanent feature and covered in trees.

;) ..or turn it into the biggest pyramid structure with a holographic apple logo floating above the tip in the sky .

Beautiful buliding… But sorry to be a buzzkill, i Just hope Apple gets back on the roll and produces things that blows us away.
2015 was a year of disarray for Apple. …….
Too many bogus decisions… Half baked or even unbaked implementations.
    Not too confidence inspiring.
I rather see perfect implementations of fantastic ideas rather than a fantastic building.

I hope they use the new building to better organize the different teams and spur new innovation and better finished products. it would be a great time to shift leadership around and fix the recent failings.

Hopefully it can also spur new hires and a better work environment for the teams. Currently they work many hours and have directors up their ass. Apple is having a hard time hiring top engineers and developers to the hours, pay and hostile work environment. I really hope Apple uses the new campus to start coercing those things and get more talent. I hope they don’t focus to much on diversity and just get the best damn engineers and designers they can.

        ahh so true….
        Keeping my fingers crossed…

  7. I, personally, think for some unknown reason, that this campus will not be built up to the end. I hope im mistaken.

Looks wonderful – but in practice will the fact that – every major wall being curved rather than flat, every angle not 90-degrees, nothing square, be equally good in use, or a real pain ? Architects do sometimes design beautiful buildings which win awards, but turn out to be sadly impracticable. Will this campus be a saint or a sinner ?
