Apple releases OS X 10.11.4 beta 7 with Messages & Notes improvements, more

screen-shot-2016-01-13-at-9-34-36-pm

In addition to releasing the seventh beta of iOS 9.3 yesterday, Apple today has released OS X 10.11.4 beta 7 to developers and public beta testers. Beta 7 comes just a week after beta 6 was released.

Much like iOS 9.3, OS X 10.11.4 enables Notes users to optionally protect entries behind a password. Protected notes are only visible on Macs running OS X 10.11.4 or later, and iOS 9.3 or later is required for viewing on iPhones and iPads.

Apple has also added a missing feature in Messages. Starting with OS X 10.11.4, Macs can now view and share Live Photos shot on the iPhone 6s or later. Previously, Macs could only view the still image; the motion and sound was removed when receiving or sending a Live Photo.

Photos for Mac has also been updated to support sending Live Photos over Messages using the built-in share extension.

Beta 7 carries the build number 15E64a.

That’s nice and all but… when are they planning on fixing the Safari/El Capitan issue that freezes the entire system and requires a hard reset? Also, there are several unresolved issues with iWork (particularly Keynote’s broken export functionalities), and iWork hasn’t received a single update since November 2015. Maybe there are some more important things than live messages and emojis, just maybe…

and you’re reporting these issues through Feedback Assistant, right?

Oh, trust me, I have sent them plenty of feedback ever since I installed El Capitan because I had plenty of issues. I don’t want to make conclusions based solely on my experience, but I have spent plenty of time searching for solutions on various forums and I have seen many others reporting similar issues :)

        Never had this issue.

I have it all the time. No other way to get around to it than a cold reset through button. Shocking really. Do it about 2 – 3 times a day. Giving up on Safari soon.

Do you use Spotify by chance?

      • henrycupcake - 8 years ago

why would someone still want to use spotify when apple music is clearly a superior choice?

      • kieboy - 8 years ago

        Nope, I’ve never used Spotify.

I totally agree with keiboy – I have absolutely the same issue with Safari, especially when CSS or other complex HTML on multiple tabs are running…

I think the safari youtube system freeze issue is fixed, at least people are saying it is fixed.

    • I have had this issue on my iPad too & with Google Maps too. When it happens, send feedback!

  2. I hope they fixed the f****** bluetooth.

Clearly Apple is going to release all these OS updates the same day as the press conference later this month.

I hope they make some improvements to the “snap” feature for viewing windows side by side, it’s limited and no where as easy to use as it is in Windows.
