Apple Pay is now available in yet another country. Apple today has updated its website and Apple Pay support page to reveal that the service is now available in Singapore. Through a partnership with American Express, users in Singapore can now take advantage of the company’s mobile payments solution.
The expansion to Singapore means that Apple Pay is now available in the United States, Canada, China, the United Kingdom, and Australia for a grand total of six countries. In a statement, Apple Pay head Jennifer Bailey had the following to say regarding the expansion to Singapore (via iMore):
Starting today, Apple Pay is available for eligible American Express issued credit cards in Singapore, so customers can now pay in an easy, secure, and more private way. We’re also thrilled that credit and debit cards from Singapore’s most popular banks, including DSB, UOB, and Standard Chartered will work with Apple Pay in the coming months – so even more people can experience the best way to pay from their iPhone, Apple Watch, or iPad.
Furthermore, on its Singapore website, Apple teases that support for Visa cards is coming soon, as well. Apple Pay is supported at a variety of retailers, including FairPrice, Starbucks, TopShop, TopMan, StarHub, Shaw Theaters, and several others in Singapore. The service will expand to a handful of other retailers as time progresses.
Earlier this year a purported MasterCard roadmap hinted at some Apple Pay expansions set to come this year. The roadmap showed the service expanding to Japan, Singapore, Brazil, and Hong Kong by the end of this year, so we’re inclined to believe that, in addition to Visa, MasterCard support is also on the docket for Apple Pay users in Singapore. The roadmap also hinted that Apple Pay in Canada could gain support of MasterCard this year, as well.
Meanwhile, Apple Pay in the United States continues to gain the support of new banks at a rapid pace. The most recent expansion saw 32 banks and credit unions gain support of Apple Pay in the United States.

Lets not get too excited…. You say Australia is supported, yet only via American Express… Most people have bank issued cards so basically not available.
You only get American express, because it is a bank and also a credit card network. It gets to keep all of the transaction fees charged to retailers, so it has more room to make deals with Apple.

Great news, looking forward to DBS card working. I’ve been using Apple Pay in SG for a while now with a UK linked card. It already works anywhere with a Visa PayWave terminal which is a lot more places than suggested in the press release.
