PBS Kids Games app debuts with free educational content, no in-app purchases

iPhones and iPads can be great educational tools and sources of entertainment for kids, but finding appropriate games and content can be tricky sometimes. PBS is helping make that easier with its new PBS Kids Games mobile apps for iOS and Android.

The new app is totally free and doesn’t offer any in-app purchases that can be pesky in other kids apps. Instead, it’s a single app packed with loads of games featuring various PBS Kids characters like Daniel Tiger, Dinosaur Train, and Super Why (all shows that are popular in my house).

PBS Kids Games joins the popular and free PBS Kids Video app. The app is more interactive, though, and features educational content fit for kids ages 2-8 that PBS says encourages “your child to engage in skills related to science, math, creativity” and more.

  • A kid-friendly user experience, making it easy for children to browse and play games anytime and anywhere
  • Learning games from favorite PBS KIDS series
  • New games added regularly
  • The capability to save favorite games to a device so that kids – especially those in under-connected homes – can play and learn anytime offline
  • Parent resources, including information on each TV series, local PBS station schedules and the ability to manage the amount of storage the app uses on each device

PBS Kids Games is available for free from the App Store.

  1. this looks nice. glad to see educational and NO in-app purchases.
My son and daughter were watching a PBS cartoon when i left for work this morning.

  2. It’s just too bad that this app and the PBS Kids Video app are only available in the US. We live in Canada and PBS is on all the time for the kids, don’t see why they’d hold us out on such an educative app.
