Apple CEO Tim Cook to appear in interview on CNBC’s Mad Money tonight

[UPDATE: CNBC says more of Cramer’s interview with Tim Cook will air tonight at 6PM ET. Today’s discussion will focus on iPhone encryption, Steve Jobs, and what Cook is most proud of at the company.]

Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to appear on CNBC’s Mad Money program tonight following Apple’s Q2 earnings earlier this month where the company reported declines across the board.

In a short clip of the upcoming interview aired today, Cook notes:

“…we just had a … actually an incredible quarter by absolute standards. $50 billion + in revenues and $10 billion in profits. To put that in perspective, the $10 billion is more than any other company makes. It’s was a pretty good quarter, but not up to the street’s expectations, clearly.”

Drops for Apple’s iOS device sales and declines in previously growing markets marked the first time in 13 years the company didn’t report growth for in the first quarter of the year. That’s despite a $50 billion quarter in revenue with $10 billion in profit and iPhone sales of 51.1 million units.

While most of the media focused on Apple’s rare declines in growth for iPhone sales and drops in revenue in Asian markets where it was previously growing rapidly, Cook highlighted some positives during its earnings report including record Android switchers during the quarter and growth for Apple Music and Apple Pay.

Cook will appear on Mad Money tonight with host Jim Cramer at 6PM ET. The network’s press release for the interview notes topics of conversation will include “Apple’s future in China, Cook’s outlook on innovation, what’s next for iPhone, the Apple Watch, growth of Apple services and whether there are any potential acquisitions coming, among others.”

Looks like Apple PR is getting desperate .Even Rumours of Previous iPhones used to garner a hell lot of attention these days nobody gives a damn about iphone 7 the nest iphone[2017] may be better though. But these things aside Tim Cook is great Leader and Activist

Tim Cook maybe a good CEO. I believe he’s not even half as good as Steve was. Tim Cook is too much about the numbers. Tim seems to think about pleasing Apple shareholders/Apple Stock and earnings before thinking about customer satisfaction.
A few examples. Siri and Maps were launched when they were never ready. I know both features are works in progress (I don’t see the work on Maps and Siri ever being ‘finished’ because it constantly requires updating, adding 3DS maps, near me, etc.) but I don’t think for a second Steve would have launched those products as soon as they were launched by Tim. Tim was already CEO when the 4S was launched and I think Tim knew both Maps and Siri weren’t finished products, but I think he did allow them to launch alongside the 4S because remove those 2 features and you’re left with a new iPhone which only features a better rear facing camera and a faster chip and so Tim would’ve feared not enough people upgrading to the 4S.

But you’re right about the activist thing. Tim Cook really does care about the environment. And it may be hard to believe but that is one of the main reasons I absolutely love Apple. They always try to limit their products’ impact on the environment. You can see it on the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus packaging on which the only thing you could recognise the phone’s design/looks with was the shape which was pressed from the inside of the packaging. On the 6S they added more color to differentiate the 6 from the 6S packaging which is understandable.

Also the solar parks Apple has been investing money in, the use of aluminium for their products, Liam (although taht’s also to recuperate the gold inside phones).

Most giant companies think ‘I can’t earn money by being cleaner, so I won’t do it’.

tim cook, the less charismatic and less enthusiastic CEO that apple has ever had

maybe he should find a job in a company that can grab his interest and passion….maybe some fashion maison for scarves, socks, shoes…..

because apple electronic products haven’t not even caught his attention

Apple PR is getting desperate because Tim Cook is giving an interview to Jim Cramer? Is every other CEO that comes on his show desperate too? How about Disney’s Bob Iger who is a frequent guest? Is he desperate?

Because Apple never do it if you don’t do something for years and suddenly jump on the ship it indicates desperation

To whomever said that only Tim Cook is about the numbers, believe me Steve Jobs was all about the numbers too. Just read a nice autobiography or there is a good series on History Channel about Steve, then you’ll see. Every CEO of every corporation is about the numbers, that is their job. LOL The slowing in growth for IOS is because many people are waiting for the iPhone 7, whomever said nobody cares about the iPhone 7, well I’m waiting for the iPhone 7. LOL I did however just purchase the new generation MacBook this week.

I mean Apple just had $50 billion in sales with $10 billion profit, I really doubt there is anything to worry about for all the investors! LOL

It’s not about Apple having $10b in sales and $10b profit, it’s whether Apple can SUSTAIN those figures which worries investors.

I laugh at all that is written on how TIm Cook isn’t as good of a CEO as Steve Jobs.
Jobs was the creative brains behind Apple and had the knowledge of knowing what was needed and how to do that.
We all have said that when Steve died, it would be hard for Apple to continue but it’s now been close to five years since his death and until last week Apple was busting at the seams. Steve put Apple in the right direction but I give a lot of credit to TIm Cook for taking an impossible job and doing pretty well. Apple has not missed a beat with Cook at the helm, matter of fact many don’t realize it but Cook has pretty much been in charged of Apple since 2004 when Jobs underwent a pancreaticoduodenectomy to remove the tumor.
The point I am trying to make nothing last’s forever and there was a point that Apple would no longer be able to achieve a record quarter any more. If Steve Jobs was still alive and running the company today, we would of probably gotten the same results.
What people really don’t get is that this quarterly report wasn’t bad, hey Apple showed Ten Billion, yes billion dollars in profit for three months, more than any other company on the planet. The importance of this is that we can’t all jump off a cliff thinking that Apple is going broke or that Tim Cook has done a bad job, that’s not the case.
The big problem with the Iphone today is that everyone has one, even most of the population of China. Unitl a few years ago, we could keep the phone for two years and get another one with our contract for $199. Those days are over and now that we have to pay $749 for that phone, we are keeping them a lot longer than before. That and the fact that Apple has Iphones in every place on the planet and has saturated the market place is the reason sales has slowed. I have a funny feeling that you will see lower sales next quarter and the quarter after and Apple will just get into a groove in which they make a profit with less sales.
I will say this, the only problem I see for Tim Cook is that he needs the next super, duper next great product in the next two to five years. Without that Apple will be in trouble. So the question will be is Tim Cook creative enough for the next great thing? And what will that next great thing be??? Many thought it would be TV and making deals to give us cable like with have in music. But just like in video, Cook realizes that will never happen.
I will place a bet with anyone that the next big thing Apple does is make the greatest electric car in which we all have to buy.

So we shouldn’t be getting all over TIm Cook now.
