Apple Store iOS app updated with new recommendation features

Apple has released a new version of its Apple Store app for iPhone and iPad with a new app icon included. Features include recommendations based on which Apple devices you own, better in-store alerts, and when favorited products are available in stores you’re visiting.

Here’s what Apple says about the new Apple Store version:

What’s New in Version 4.0

• Get recommendations and shop for new products based on what works with the Apple devices you already own.
• Manage your Apple account at a glance with the updated, easy-to-use Account tab.
• Learn about helpful workshops and exciting events happening at your nearest Apple Store.
• Stay on top of your in-store activities. Find out when your order is ready for pickup and see what time your reservation starts.
• Scan a product at a participating Apple Store to get more information, make sure it’s compatible, and buy it from your iPhone.
• Find out if a product you’ve added to Favorites is available when you visit a participating store.

The new version is also supports multitasking on iPads thanks to a new design that scales up from the iPhone version:

The previous version was designed specifically for iPad but lacked Split View and Slide Over features:

Apple Store version TK is the update that was first rumored ahead of its release last week. The Apple Store app for iPhone and iPad is available for free on the App Store.
