HomePod is a fantastic speaker for playing music, whether it be via Apple Music or AirPlay through a third-party service such as Spotify. However, there’s a fairly big issue with using HomePod with Apple Music, which is that HomePod doesn’t have voice profiles.
By default, HomePod will keep record of every song that is played and use it for its algorithm to better help you when you ask things like “play something I’d like.” This can become an issue if you’ve decided to place a HomePod in an area such as your living room, where your significant other or kids use it to play music.

HomePod: How to turn off listening history
- Open the Home app on an iPhone or iPad, 3D Touch or force press the HomePod icon.
- Tap Settings and then scroll down until you see Use Listening History.
- Switch the toggle off.
Now, when you play music through the HomePod, it will no longer use it against your listening history, giving you a better overall experience until Apple adds voice profiles.
