Shortcuts user guide for getting started now available, Siri Shortcuts Field Guide course available for learning more

Along with the public release of iOS 12 today, Apple has brought the Shortcuts app out of its invite-only status and made it available to all. It has also published a user guide for getting up and running with the useful automation focused app. And if you’ve already been a Workflow/Shortcuts user, we’ve got a great resource to go further.

Apple’s new Shortcuts user guide offers a look at what the app offers, how to get started, and information about some advanced features.

Shortcuts in iOS 12 let you get things done with your apps, with just a tap or by asking Siri. In addition to running shortcuts available on your iOS device, you can use the Shortcuts app to create custom shortcuts, simplifying everyday tasks by combining steps across multiple apps.

Apple’s user guide features four chapters including: Shortcuts basics, Create and use Shortcuts, Manage Shortcuts, and Advanced Shortcuts.

To go further, check out MacSparky’s Siri Shortcuts course that includes 40 videos going over everything from the basics to “devilishly complex” automations. This field guide includes over three hours of video content, downloadable shortcuts, and is available for $24 at launch (reg. $29).

Shortcuts is a free download from the App Store.
