How to make a slow iPhone run faster?

Apple released its most powerful version of mobile operating system iOS 8, also the biggest iOS ever, on September 17, 2014. But after update to iOS 8, so many people asked “Why is my iPhone so slow?” Then a more stable version – iOS 8.1 has been released in October. And after that, iOS 8.1.1 came out to meet every Apple fans in early November. As we can see, every year’s iOS update is not stable at all for the old iPhone, such as this year’s iPhone 5s / 5c / 5 and iPhone 4 S / 4. Later systems like iOS 8.1 and iOS 8.1.1 are just basically patching iOS 8 up, partially repaired its bugs. Until now neither of the updates can fully compatible with the old iPhones, which still are running slower than the new iPhone.

Before another update’s coming, how to make your old slow iPhone run like a new one? Here are some tips that may be helpful to your situation.

1.       Shut down unnecessary applications

Let’s start with the easiest way: remember to close down all non-essential apps all the time. Because when you run multiple apps at the same time, it might slow your iPhone down and shrink your battery’s life.

Double-click the Home button to bring up the tray of currently running apps at the interface. Please choose those unnecessary ones down like games, calculator, map, etc., then swipe up on the apps preview panel to push it off of the screen.

2.       Clear cookies and junk files

All the apps creates junk files like app cache, app cookies, and app temp files, crash log files, downloaded temp files, photo cache, video cache. These things will make your iPhone slow to a great degree. Here I recommend you Macgo iPhone Cleaner, which is a powerful cleaning application for iPhone users on PC. It can dig out all the useless junk files and strike them out within one minute to speed up your slow iPhone.

Free download and install > Connect iPhone to PC > Press “Scan your iPhone” > Press “Clean your iPhone”.

3.       Delete unnecessary songs, photos and videos

You can tap “Settings > General > Usage” to see how much storage space is left and which apps take up most of the storage space. Among most of us, the top two would be Music and Photos & Camera. Just like riding a bike, if you carry too much things on the backseat, it will wear you out. So delete part of the large files here will help your slow iPhone run much faster.

Open Music and find the songs you no longer like and want to delete: swipe to the right and press Delete. Then you can connect iPhone with your PC and open Image Capture: tick “Delete after import” at the bottom. Or you can delete photos on your iPhone: open Photos, tap ‘Select’ and then tap on the pictures or videos you want to delete.

Please do bear in mind that blindly rushing to upgrade to the latest iOS will certainly cause some problems to your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. You can just wait until Apple repaired all the bugs then go update. Also you should empty enough storage space for it, tips above can help you do that, too.
