iPhone 5S Screen Damaged While Cleaning with Alcohol

iPhone 5S Screen Damaged While Cleaning with Alcohol

Many people love to clean iPhone screen with Alcohol or other household cleaners since it can clean the prints and dirt easily, dries fast, and sterilizes the device as well. But the truth is that’s very dangerous.  There’s a piece of news reported by 126.com providing us a live example that someone damaged his screen while cleaning with alcohol.

From the picture he shared, it’s easy to find out that the solvents went into the iPhone 5S screen and seems to have the inner screen dyed with ink.  Actually, there is a very thin coating inside of iPhone to protect the inner screen. But it dissolves in many types of liquid solvents easily. So it’s highly recommended you not to clean iPhone and other iOS device with those solvents.  And according to Apple, the best way to clean iPhone is to wipe it gently with soft, lint-free cloth. And if there is something hard to clean, you can put some drops of water onto the cloth, squeeze it out, and use the dampened cloth to remove the stuck-on substance. Besides, the outside screen of iPhone is also covered with oleophobic coating which makes figure prints easily removing. Liquid solvents may damage the coating as well. So if you don’t want the outside screen being damaged, you’d better take a soft, lint-free cloth with you and clean the iPhone screen as soon as there’s stain on it.
