Apple has had a big week for Mac announcements. There are new M4 models of the MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini, plus new M4 Pro and M4 Max chips—all shipping next Friday, November 8. macOS Sequoia 15.1 also debuted with Apple Intelligence. Here are all the highlights from Apple’s big announcements.
MacBook Pro, iMac, and Mac mini
- MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch: M4 Pro and Max, Thunderbolt 5, improved battery, camera, more.
- Entry MacBook Pro 14-inch: 16GB RAM, new camera, better battery, more.
- iMac: New colors, M4 chip, USB-C accessories, upgraded camera, more.
- Mac mini: Tiny, yet mighty. M4 or M4 Pro, 16GB RAM, 5 USB-C ports, more.
Noteworthy features and details:
- Center Stage camera: MacBook Pro and iMac both get a new 12MP Center Stage camera.
- Nano-texture option: iMac and MacBook Pro also both have a nano-texture display option.
- New battery life record: M4 MacBook Pro comes with the longest battery life ever in a Mac.
- Thunderbolt 5 debuts: M4 Pro and M4 Max offer support for Thunderbolt 5, with faster data transfer speeds and higher throughput.
- Mac mini is just 5×5 inches: It’s not quite as small as an Apple TV, but it’s close.
- First carbon neutral Mac: The tiny new Mac mini is the first ever carbon neutral Mac.
- M4 Pro details: up to 14-core CPU, up to 20-core GPU, and up to 64GB RAM.
- M4 Max goes further: up to 16-core CPU, up to 40-core GPU, up to 128GB RAM.
Misc. hardware updates
- USB-C accessories: Finally, Apple’s Magic Keyboard, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse are available with USB-C charging.
- MacBook Air RAM surprise: There’s no M4 Air until next year, but the M2 and M3 models now start at 16GB RAM for the same price.
- Magic Mouse charging: Yes, the new USB-C Magic Mouse still charges on the bottom.
Software announcements
- macOS Sequoia 15.1 is here: The Apple Intelligence update shipped to all users this week.
- Another AAA game hits the Mac: Apple announced that Cyberpunk 2077 is coming in early 2025 to Mac users.
