Apple TV’s hit neo-noir detective series Sugar is back for season 2 this year, with Colin Farrell returning. Here’s the just announced release date.
Sugar season 2 premieres this June on Apple TV
Apple TV is known for sci-fi shows like Severance and Pluribus, comedies like Ted Lasso and Shrinking, and recently has ramped up its slate of thrillers too, such as Hijack.
But one of the more unique Apple series is a detective show called Sugar.
Sugar stars Colin Farrell as an LA-based private detective in a show that harkens the classic noir genre—albeit with a big twist that muddies the genre question.
The first season of Sugar aired in spring 2024, and now Apple has announced the release date for season 2.
Sugar season 2 premieres Friday, June 19 with one episode, followed by weekly releases through August 7.

Season two ushers in the return of Los Angeles’ iconic private detective and film connoisseur, John Sugar. Emmy Award nominee Colin Farrell returns for a new case, tracking the troubled older brother of an up-and-coming local boxer as his search for his beloved missing sister continues. As the investigation expands into a citywide conspiracy with sinister intentions, Sugar must reckon with himself to answer the question — how far will he go to do what’s right?
Season 1 was showrun by Mark Protosevich, the series creator. But for season 2, Sam Catlin has taken the showrunner reins. He was involved in season 1 too, and his previous work includes Breaking Bad and Preacher.
