Apple unveils Apple Home Collection smart home accessories developed with LG and Schneider

Apple today confirmed that it is working with at least two third-party companies to develop a new lineup of smart home accessories, including cameras, thermostats, and a smart lock. Here are the details.

’Clean, minimal aesthetic and premium materials’

In addition to announcing the new Apple TV 4K, the new HomePod mini, and the new $299 HomeView smart display today, Apple also unveiled Apple Home Collection, a lineup of smart home accessories developed in collaboration with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric.

Apple says it collaborated with both companies to bring “the simplicity, reliability, and privacy of iPhone and Apple Home to a new suite of smart cameras, thermostats, and a door lock.”

Building on the thousands of Works with Apple Home and Matter accessories available today, Apple Home Collection offers customers a new array of recommended products to better understand what’s happening inside and outside their home, manage access, and keep the temperature just right throughout the day.

The Apple Home Collection lineup currently includes the following products, with prices starting at:

  • LG Floodlight Cam: $399.95
  • LG Indoor Cam Plug-in: $199.95
  • LG Outdoor Cam Plug-in: $299.95
  • LG Smart Deadbolt Lock: $349.95
  • LG Smart Thermostat: $199.95
  • LG Temperature Sensor: $39.95
  • LG Video Doorbell Wired: $249.95
  • Schneider Home Smart Thermostat: $199.95
  • Schneider Home Smart Thermostat Room Sensor: $39.95

You can find more details about color and regional availability here. Apple says availability for the lineup begins in December, with some accessories not arriving until early 2027.

The new Apple Home Collection can be set up with one tap on the iPhone. From there, the entire lineup can be managed through the Apple Home app, with no separate apps or accounts required.

All accessories support Thread, while the smart lock also supports Matter and Aliro, allowing its core access functions to work locally, even without an internet connection.

Apple says all data in the Home app is end-to-end encrypted, meaning neither Apple nor its partners, LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, can access it.

Here’s Apple on the home monitoring lineup:

LG’s lineup of four cameras gives users a private and intelligent way to monitor their homes when using a home hub like Apple HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini, or Apple TV 4K. Every camera captures up to 2.5K resolution video and recognizes people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles, and packages, with video history securely stored in users’ supported iCloud+ plan, so there’s no separate camera subscription.

The cameras also support Apple Intelligence features, including automatic video summaries that describe what’s happening in recorded footage, and the ability to search recordings using natural language. Both features require an eligible iCloud+ subscription and compatible Apple devices.

As for home access, which is handled by LG’s Smart Deadbolt Lock, Apple confirms that it supports Ultra Wideband, which in practice means the door can automatically unlock when someone approaches with a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch configured with a home key, without needing to tap either device.

This is hysterical! These prices are so overblown I can't see how anyone would justify them. And this is LG we're talking about. If there's a company I wouldn't trust, it's them.

It also features an integrated PIN pad and a hidden backup key slot, and can detect when the door has been opened, closed, or tampered with, including alerting users if it remains open while locked.

When it comes to the Home Climate products, Apple explains that the new thermostats from LG and Schneider Electric can automatically adjust temperatures based on whether users are home, getting ready for bed, or away, without requiring manual scheduling. They can also use temperature and humidity readings from sensors placed in different rooms.

Finally, Apple says that starting this fall in the U.S., customers will be able to pay an additional fee to have their Apple Home Collection accessories professionally installed by ADT through Apple Retail.
