Touchscreen MacBook Pro and more launching at Apple event on Oct 28

We’ve long been awaiting the launch of the first touchscreen and OLED MacBook Pro, and a new report says that the official launch will take place at an Apple event on October 28. It says that Apple has begun sending invites to selected media representatives.

The same event will include the OLED iPad mini as well as an M6 original design MacBook Pro and iMac …

We were expecting a second Apple event later this month, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that this is now taking place in Los Angeles on October 28th. He had previously reported that it would happen a day earlier.

We’re expecting Apple to reveal:

  • New 14-inch and 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro models with OLED displays
  • A new iPad mini with an OLED screen
  • New iMac and entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro models powered by the M6 chip

The touchscreen MacBook Pro will of course grab the headlines, although recent reporting has suggested we should tone down our expectations of a much slimmer design. We are, however, still expecting it to be “significantly lighter” than the current models. The new machines will have a Dynamic Island replacing the notch, and are expected to be powered by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips.

The new iPad mini is believed to have the FaceTime camera relocated for landscape rather than portrait use, as well as a revamped speaker system.

Finally, the new iMac and entry-level MacBook Pro models are expected to have an unchanged design and simply be a chip update.
