Apple releases iOS 26.5 RC 2 ahead of public launch

Apple has released a new RC (release candidate) build for iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 today, available now for developers and public beta testers.

iOS 26.5 RC 2 available now for testing

iOS 26.5 is expected to launch to all users next week. But before it does, Apple has one last pre-release build shipping today.

Rolling out now is iOS 26.5 and iPadOS 26.5 RC 2. The previous RC build was version 23F75, and the new build is 23F77.

What might have changed between RC updates? Don’t expect any new features or noticeable UI updates.

Rather, Apple likely shipped a new RC because of bugs it discovered in the RC testing process that it needed to fix before the public launch.

Even though every RC build is intended to be the final software version that ships to all users (thus the ‘Release Candidate’ name), it’s not unusual for Apple to ship a revised RC for additional testing.

When iOS 26.5 does launch, it will include new iPhone features like RCS end-to-end encrypted messaging, a ‘Suggested Places’ feature in Apple Maps, a Pride Luminance wallpaper, and more.
