Sixth release candidates for macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.8 now rolling out

In what must be a record, Apple is now rolling out a sixth round of develope and public release candidates for macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.8. Here are the details.

If you thought RC 5 for macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.8 would be the last release candidates before the official updates, Apple apparently had yet another one in store.

The company is now rolling out a sixth RC for both operating systems, which are likely to include important security fixes, given their timing. Apple recently released iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26.5.2 with fixes originally planned for version 26.6, bringing them forward because of the risks posed by new AI-powered tools.

Apple has yet to provide any details on what’s included in the systems, beyond the default “important security fixes and is recommended for all users” release notes. The release builds for today’s RCs are:
