When the controversy surrounding Bendgate was dominating the headlines a few months ago, Apple officially responded that it had only received 9 complaints about iPhone bending issues from customers. Unsurprisingly, someone set out to prove that statement wrong by creating a website where users could submit photos of their bent iPhones.
The result is the above video that shows a compilation of 300 bent iPhone 6 devices based on user-submitted photos. But let’s be realistic: while 300 is certainly more than 9, both numbers are incredibly insignificant given the nearly 40 million iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus units that Apple sold during the fourth quarter.
While bending might be true for a few users, this video is just another reminder that Bendgate is merely a non-issue that refuses to die.
It seems quite feasible that more cases have occurred since Apple announced only 9 reports of bent iPhones. Plus I wonder how many of these have been bent intentionally, i.e. for YouTube videos or some other exercise to show off that it can be bent.
