How Pizza Hut’s iPhone app saved two hostages in Florida

I wouldn’t normally recommend calling Pizza Hut for any reason, but in this case an online order through the company’s iPhone app helped save a woman and her kids from a hostage situation (via AP):

A central Florida woman helped save herself and her children by sending a message in an online pizza order that asked employees to call 911 because she was being held hostage…. The Avon Park Pizza Hut employees spotted what Cheryl Treadway wrote in the comment section of her online order. Employees recognized Treadway as a regular customer and called the sheriff’s office.

  1. I’m wondering if this article is aiming to show us how intuitive and smart was that woman by getting such genius idea which saves her kids and herself or this article is aiming to praise the iphone? i hope not the second one otherwise that would be ridiculous cause you can find the same app on other mobile platforms, what is the point then… It’s great to support a brand but please don’t make a cult of it and be a fanatic as those who were following Hitler… :)

Hitler was responsible for the deaths of 11 million people including as many as 1.5 million children. You’re an idiot.

      • you missed the point and started insulting me such behavior explain a lot about you, i choose Hitler on purpose to point the fact that in most of case being a blind fanatic is bad cause you will lose the sense of reality and your judgment won’t be objective and accurate anymore because you will always try to modify some facts for not pointing out what can be wrong with your idol…

Sorry we missed your point, you were just saying murdering 11 million people is the same as choosing which brand of phone to buy. Got it. Still an idiot.

      • @_jorts Ah okay now I got it, the thing is your mad at me not because i have wrote the name of Hitler but because of something else that you just don’t want to say but prefer hidding yourself behind insult, don’t worry i can’t play in such low level of education and good manner cause you clearly lack those things, anyway that was my post you didn’t understand it that’s your problem, you insult me that’s also your problem, i just hope you won’t teach you kids such bad behavior you have…

Sorry Chris, but I agree with them. Comparing someone’s choice of smartphones to following a mass murderer like Hitler makes you an idiot.

      • Because you clearly didn’t understand like the others, i’m comparing someone’s choice of smartphone if you read carefully i said it’s great to support a brand by that i mean everyone has its own preference regarding a smartphone’s brand and i’m not against that what I meant is that loving a brand should not lead you to love it blindly and make it as everything it does is Alleluia! and Amen! NO! Otherwise you will lose your sense of critics and will no longer be able to make a difference between if what it does is good for consumers or not cause in your eyes because of your blind love you will follow like Ass any carrot it will put in front of your eyes, that’s the reason why i choose an extreme case such Hitler cause everyone knows that is bad. So frankly if you and others are unable to understand i have just only thing to say “please God save Humans”…

You’re strange, Chris. The more you try to defend your absurd position, the more absurd and stupid you sound. And the most absurd part is, this article has nothing to do with choosing smartphone platforms, and still you decided to interject your inane thoughts.

I agree with everyone who said that Chris Gabriel is an idiot. I would like to add that he needs to learn how to properly use that wonderful invention which we refer to as “punctuation.” If you’re going to argue that you’re not an idiot, it isn’t helping your point if you can’t punctutate correctly in order to begin and end sentences where appropriate.

Here you go, buddy, the Simple English version of the article on punctuation. Hope it helps!

On the other hand, your inability to correctly spell “punctuate” doesn’t really aid the delivery of your punctuation lecture either. :)

Regardless, using Pizza Hut app to deliver call for help was very clever idea from the mother! I’m glad she and her kids are safe now.

Chris, don’t listen to the haters. I see your analogy and I think it was very nice and creative.

Chris and joannbendzsas must’ve met when they both stayed at the same mental hospital. How cute—they stayed in touch!

$1.35 to add pepperoni to a classic pizza? What a fantastic deal.
