Apple has been testing tvOS 9.2.2 with developers since late May, and today the latest software update for the Apple TV has been released to all customers. tvOS 9.2.2 is a minor release for the fourth-generation Apple TV as new features and big enhancements are coming later this year with tvOS 10.
When tvOS 10 is ready this fall, Apple TV 4 will gain a dark mode, new Siri features like YouTube video search and looking up movies and TV shows by topics, an updated Photos app with Memories, support for HomeKit and controlling smart home accessories, single sign-on for authenticating cable channels, and more. tvOS 10 is currently in development with betas available for registered developers.
tvOS 9.2.2 is the latest currently available version of the Apple TV 4 software. Apple TV will update its software automatically by default, or you can give it a heads up if you don’t want to wait. Just go to the Settings channel, then the System section, and look for Software Updates under Maintenance, and select Update Software.
