iPhone 17 pricing: Here’s the rumored cost for each new model

Apple’s big September event is coming up fast, with the company expected to unveil four new iPhones: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max. Here are the rumored prices for each new iPhone 17 model, most of which could see a higher cost.

iPhone 17 prices expected to increase for most models

iPhone 17 Pro Max vs Pro

Despite the cost of nearly everything going up in recent years, Apple has been remarkably consistent with iPhone pricing.

Though rumors regularly hint at Apple raising its iPhone prices, it hasn’t happened very often.

But this year seems like it may finally change that, as analyst expectations are for price hikes on most new iPhone 17 models.

Here’s the breakdown of current expected starting prices:

  • iPhone 17: $799 (no increase)
  • iPhone 17 Air: $949 ($50 increase)
  • iPhone 17 Pro: $1,049 ($50 increase)
  • iPhone 17 Pro Max: $1,249 ($50 increase)

There are a couple important details to note alongside these expectations:

  1. iPhone 17 Air is a brand new model, so it’s not entirely fair to compare it to the iPhone 16 Plus
  2. iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to have a higher 256GB base storage tier, so in some ways the increase could be a discount compared to last year’s Pro model

Why do analysts believe price increases are coming this year? Tariffs seem to be the biggest reason.

Apple has no doubt debated raising prices more often in previous years, but tariffs and the advent of a brand new Air model provide good cover, in a manner of speaking, for making the changes now.

It’s always possible Apple could decide to keep iPhone pricing steady for another year. Analysts have predicted increases before and been proven wrong. But don’t be surprised if your new iPhone costs a little more this year.

What’s your take on the expected iPhone 17 prices this year? Might higher costs for the iPhone 17 line prevent you from upgrading? Let us know in the comments.
