With the iPhone 17, Apple announced that they’ll be capable of charging even faster than previous iPhone models: up to 50% in just 20 minutes.
In its tech specs for the iPhone 17 models, Apple says:
- Up to 50% charge in 20 minutes with 40W adapter or higher (available separately) paired with USB‑C charging cable
- Up to 50% charge in 30 minutes with 30W adapter or higher paired with MagSafe Charger (both available separately)
You can use any power adapter that is 40W or faster; it doesn’t need to be Apple-branded. There are countless reputable options on the market from companies like Anker.
iPhone 17 pre-orders opened yesterday. All of the new iPhone models, Apple Watches, and new AirPods Pro 3 will be available to customers next Friday, September 19th. Accessories like this new Dynamic Power Adapter are already available in Apple Stores for customers. You can also pick them up on Amazon.
Update September 15, 2025: An earlier version of this story said Apple’s new Dynamic Power Adapter was the only way to charge the iPhone 17 as fast as possible. This is not true. We regret the error.
