iPadOS 26.2 beta 1 is now available

At the start of the week, Apple released iPadOS 26.1 for all users. Now, just one day later, a new round of beta software updates is here, including iPadOS 26.2 beta 1.

First iPadOS 26.2 beta arrives shortly after 26.1 shipped

Apple’s history with software releases follows a fairly predictable pattern.

Typically, after one software update ships to all users, the company debuts beta versions of its next update pretty quickly—sometimes as early as one day later.

That’s what’s happened today, as iPadOS 26.2 beta 1 is here just one day after 26.1 shipped to all users.

Yesterday’s update brought the return of Slide Over for multitasking, plus new Apple Intelligence languages, a convenient Apple Music addition, and more.

Today’s iPadOS 26.2 beta is so far a complete mystery. There have been minimal rumors around new features that might arrive.

And unlike some years, when Apple announces a lot of features at WWDC in June that don’t ship immediately in the fall, there’s no list of previously announced iPadOS 26 features that haven’t yet shipped.

On the iPhone side, we’re still awaiting US passport support in Wallet. So that might come in iOS 26.2.

For iPad users though, any new features in today’s iPadOS 26.2 beta will be a surprise.

What new features do you hope to see in iPadOS 26.2, and have you discovered anything in the beta? Let us know in the comments.
