Severance season 3 just got a big release timing update

The recent hit season of Severance has been landing on lots of ‘Best TV of 2025’ lists, and today a big update has arrived for release timing of Apple’s upcoming season 3.

Severance season 3 production set for April-December, with 2027 premiere expected

Severance season 3 might be Apple’s most highly anticipated upcoming release, with the strongest competition being next year’s Ted Lasso season 4.

Until recently, the latest Severance updates were that scripts were still being written, and star Patricia Arquette mentioned a spring 2026 filming start.

But now, as posted by Apple TV News Hub on X, there’s an official production schedule set.

Severance season 3 will film from April 2026 through December 2026. Production Weekly’s latest issue is the source for the update.

Based on post-production timelines for previous seasons, this puts the show on track to return around mid-2027.

6-9 months of post-production are expected. So we could see Severance season 3 premiere as soon as June 2027. It’s also very possible the show will slip into September, when Apple tends to debut some of its biggest series.

In either scenario, Severance will return a bit sooner than it did for season 2, which arrived three years after the first season. But it’s certainly not as soon as many fans might hope for.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like Ted LassoSeverancePluribus, and more. You can also get it through the Apple One bundle.
