Apple TV comedy with 96% Rotten Tomatoes lands new season

Platonic aired its second season this summer and scored rave reviews, and Apple has now confirmed that season 3 is on the way with stars Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne returning.

Platonic season 3 is officially in the works at Apple TV

Apple TV comedies have had a strong year, including and especially ones starring Seth Rogen.

  • The Studio became the Emmy’s most-nominated freshman comedy ever, and won ‘Best Comedy’
  • Platonic arrived with even stronger reviews for season 2 than its well-received debut

While The Studio season 2 has already been confirmed, today Apple TV announced that Platonic season 3 is in the works too.

From Apple’s press release:

“We couldn’t be more excited to get back into the world of ‘Platonic’ with our amazing partners, Rose and Seth and Sony and Apple,” said co-creators Stoller and Delbanco.

“‘Platonic’ is proof there is no duo better at making us belly laugh at midlife crises than Seth and Rose,” said Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV. “Nick and Francesca accomplished the rare feat of taking the show to the next level in season two, and, along with our partners at Sony, we can’t wait to see what they cook up for season three.”

Platonic “follows a platonic pair of former best friends approaching midlife (Rogen and Byrne) who reconnect after a long rift. The duo’s friendship becomes all consuming — and destabilizes their lives in a hilarious way.”

Here’s the trailer for last season for anyone new to the show:

Apple didn’t share expected release timing for the new season. A late 2026 debut might be possible, but more likely we’ll see it premiere in 2027.
