Apple TV unveils return of major sci-fi series coming next month

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is returning to Apple TV next month for season 2, and the sci-fi epic with Godzilla and King Kong just revealed a brand new titan in its first trailer.

Monarch season 2 trailer reveals new ‘Titan X’ monster

Apple TV has a strong library of sci-fi series, with mainstream hits like Severance and Pluribus alongside fan favorites Foundation, Silo, Dark Matter, and more.

But one of the streamer’s most epic, big-budget sci-fi offerings is Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters season 2 hits Apple TV on Friday, February 27 with its premiere episode, followed by weekly releases through May 1.

The show stars father-son Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell and features Godzilla, King Kong, and a just-unveiled new ‘Titan X’ in season 2. The first season was praised for staying very grounded and human-focused, despite the presence of monsters.

And Apple has just unveiled what to expect from season 2 via a new trailer.

Here’s a plot summary of the series, followed by the trailer:

Season one of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings looking to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch. Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later, where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows.

Season two will pick up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon.
