Apple TV has acclaimed London crime thriller coming back soon

Apple TV has been ramping up its slate of crime thrillers recently, and it just set the release date for season 2 of the acclaimed show Criminal Record. Here are the details.

Criminal Record season 2 premieres this spring

If you’re a fan of crime thrillers, Apple TV is fast becoming a go-to destination for the genre.

Currently the Idris Elba-starring Hijack is airing, but shortly after it ends, Apple has another thriller on the way.

Criminal Record season 2 premieres Wednesday, April 22 with its first episode, followed by weekly releases through June 10.

The series stars Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo as London-based detectives in the police force. Criminal Record’s first season aired in 2024 and earned an impressive 90% Rotten Tomatoes score.

Here’s Apple’s official summary for season 2:

“Criminal Record” is a powerful, character-driven drama set in the heart of contemporary London, exploring the impossibility of policing when the truth is up for grabs. In season two, when a young man is stabbed to death at a political rally, rival police officers June Lenker (Jumbo) and Daniel Hegarty (Capaldi) are forced into an uneasy alliance. But what starts as a hunt for a murderer escalates into an undercover operation to foil a far-right bomb plot in the heart of London.

You can watch the full first season of Criminal Record here on Apple TV.

If you’re interested in more crime thrillers on the streamer, I’d recommend checking out Slow Horses, Black Bird, Presumed Innocent, and Dope Thief.

Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month, or you can get it discounted through the Apple One bundle.
