PSA: Apple Creator Studio 3-month free trial offered even for older devices

Apple Creator Studio is officially here, and by all appearances a great value for many. Apple offers a 1-month trial for all users, but it turns out there are surprise offers for 3 free months being given too—even if you haven’t bought a new device.

Prior Mac and iPad purchases might qualify you for 3 free months of Apple Creator Studio

When Apple first announced the new Apple Creator Studio bundle, it mentioned two free trial offers for users.

  • 1-month free trials would be available for everyone
  • and 3-month trials would be given “with the purchase of a new Mac or qualifying iPad”

But now that Creator Studio has launched, it seems Apple is being much more generous with giving out 3-month trials than expected.

I signed up for Apple Creator Studio today and was greeted by this surprise message:

Your new device includes 3 months of Creator Studio for free

There was an ‘Accept 3 Months Free’ button, and hitting it triggered the typical in-app subscription popup. After the initial 3-month period ends, Apple Creator Studio will automatically renew for $12.99/month unless I cancel before then.

I was surprised by the 3-month offer because my last new device was purchased in October, when I bought the M5 iPad Pro.

I didn’t expect a device purchased several months ago to qualify, but it apparently does.

After asking around, I found out that one of my colleagues who bought the M3 MacBook Air in 2024 also received the 3-month offer.

Apple hasn’t said how recent a device has to be to merit an extended Creator Studio trial. But it seems the “new device” qualifier is being applied very broadly.

So if you’re interested in checking out Apple Creator Studio, you might just have an extended window to do that.

Were you offered the 3-month free trial for Apple Creator Studio, and if so, what device qualified you? Let us know in the comments.
