iPhone Duo can be just $9/month with trade-in using Apple Upgrade

iPhone Duo pre-orders start soon, and while the foldable is Apple’s most expensive iPhone ever, the new Apple Upgrade program can get you a leased model at a lower monthly cost than I expected.

Apple Upgrade lowers the entry cost of iPhone Duo substantially, here are the details

Apple Upgrade launched recently as a way to lease Apple products at low monthly prices. I was initially skeptical, but it’s a surprisingly good deal for one reason: you always have the option of buying your device when the lease ends, and your total cost will never exceed the original list price.

If you perpetually keep leasing products, you’ll pay more in the long run. But if you use Apple Upgrade to get products with a low upfront cost, and pay them off later, it can be a great option. And that’s very evident with iPhone Duo pricing.

Apple’s website has a variety of options for getting an iPhone Duo. You can buy outright for $1,999 for the 256GB model, or do 24-month financing for $83/month.

But with Apple Upgrade, a 24-month lease is $57.99/month. And if you trade in a recent iPhone, you can even get an iPhone Duo for as low as $9/month.

  • iPhone Duo 12-month lease: $9.24/month with trade-in of iPhone 17 Pro Max
  • iPhone Duo 24-month lease: $21.12/month with trade-in of iPhone 17 Pro Max

Trading in a product like iPhone 17 Pro Max takes a significant amount off the monthly cost. And if you decide to buy the iPhone Duo outright at the end of your lease term, that trade-in credit is still fully applied.

However, if you decide to trade in the iPhone Duo in a year or two to get a new model (like the rumored iPhone 20 Pro), just know that your monthly cost will go up a lot, since you’ll no longer have the discount of a device trade-in.

All this to say, if the sticker shock of $2,000 made the Duo seem unattainable, it may not be.
