New Apple TV 4K launches next week with two major upgrades

New Apple products are reportedly launching on October 13, including an updated Apple TV 4K. Here are the two major upgrades rumored for the new Apple TV.

#1: Siri AI

When Siri AI was first unveiled by Apple this June, the company presented it as a cross-platform revamp that would work the same regardless of the device you’re using.

The new Siri debuted on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro. But curiously, there’s never been mention made of Siri AI on Apple TV or HomePod. And out of all the OS 27 updates that shipped last month, tvOS and HomePod software are the only ones missing the new Siri.

But that’s about to change, with Siri AI reportedly a tentpole addition to the new Apple TV 4K.

Based on what we’ve seen with Siri AI on other platforms, it’s set to be a big upgrade for tvOS users. In addition to increased intelligence around TV shows and movies, better content recommendations, and likely powering an improved InSight feature, the new Siri should also support asking world knowledge questions like any other device.

#2: A19-class chip, up from current A15 Bionic

The Apple TV 4K hasn’t been updated since 2022, and that model has an A15 chip that debuted in 2021.

But rumors indicate the new Apple TV 4K being unveiled next week will bring a big chip upgrade, boasting an A19 or A19 Pro chip.

I've heard this before. Won't believe it until it happens. 🤣

Leaker Aaron Perris discovered a reference to the new hardware model in Apple code with an ‘AppleTV18,1’ identifier. This ‘18,1’ numbering scheme was also used for the iPhone 17 line, thus pointing to an A19-class chip being used.

I suspect it will be an A19 Pro rather than A19, since the latter doesn’t support the ability to customize Siri AI’s voice pace and expressivity. With Siri AI being a major focal point of the new Apple TV, the A19 Pro seems a safer bet.
