This is a well made app from the technical point. I really like the way the scores are presented on the lock screen and how they use the Dynamic Island. It is also the fastest app I know to show new scores (you really have to turn it off when you watch TV).
But it is a long way until this app can be the only app I use for scores:
- If Apple wants this to be used around the world they have to add so many more leagues. If I only look at Germany we only get 2 male and 1 female football (the real kind 😉) leagues but they are missing the third and fourth male devisions which includes 6 (!) leagues plus the woman’s second devision and Cup games. So alone in Germany 8 leagues/cups missing just to cover all professional leagues and I guess that means there are hundreds of serious leagues of the most viewed sport in the world missing to get this app on its legs.
- It is missing many stats other apps show and that you want to see as a fan
- The live text is not even close to what other live texts (we call em ticker) tell you about the scenes in the game. Too little info.
- There is NO Apple watch app! Apple what the heck? You should be the first to get the info on your watch. That is just crazy lame!
Apple could easily habe the only app for sport scores I use but they need to take a look on the many other sports apps and offer the same infos. Its not enough to be technically better.
Today’s update to version 4.5 continues that trend, adding support for five soccer competitions from around the world:
- Brazilian Serie B
- English League One
- English League Two
- Norwegian Eliteserien
- UEFA Nations League
Additionally, the app’s Live Activities can now display key game statistics during breaks in the action across leagues, which Apple says will help users “stay even closer to the game at a glance.”
Here’s Apple’s full release notes for Apple Sports 4.5:
- New updates to Live Activities help you stay even closer to the game at a glance. Now you can see key stats during breaks in the action across leagues.
- The soccer lineup continues to grow, with Brazilian Serie B, English League One, English League Two, Norwegian Eliteserien, and UEFA Nations League.
