WaPo: Apple revealed as one of the top donors to Trump’s White House ballroom

A new investigation by The Washington Post reveals that Apple and Nvidia each pledged $25 million toward Trump’s new White House ballroom, making them two of the project’s largest donors. Here are the details.

Apple and Nvidia tie for largest donations overall

Last October, CNN reported:

“Apple, Amazon, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft, Google, Coinbase, Comcast and Meta are just some of the major companies who have made donations to build President Donald Trump’s proposed 90,000-square-foot ballroom, according to the White House.”

The controversial project, whose estimated construction cost has climbed to $600 million, has now come under even closer scrutiny following a new investigation by The Washington Post, which obtained internal fundraising records containing previously undisclosed details about donors and the amounts they committed.

According to the report, Apple, Nvidia, the Adelson Family Foundation, and the Charlie Ergen household and donor-advised fund each pledged $25 million, collectively accounting for roughly 30% of the $333 million in reported contributions.

The numbers are from an internal spreadsheet obtained by The Post.

Came for the comments and they didn't disappoint. Hate the current president, who cares...but you do realize that the ballroom will be used by future presidents and provide a better and more secure location for foreign dignitaries and leaders? Currently it's done under tents on the grass at the White House or at a hotel that has too many security risks. Trump will spend very little time, if any, using it.

Other donations associated with the tech sector reportedly include:

  • Google via John P. Coale Esq. Trust: $22 million (through settlement funds from Trump’s lawsuit against YouTube)
  • Microsoft: $10 million
  • Palantir: $10 million
  • Amazon: $5 million
  • Meta: $5 million
  • HP: $2.5 million
  • Micron: $2.5 million
  • Salesforce: $2 million (with another $1 million from Benioff DAF)

The list also includes $5 million contributions from Cisco, Coinbase, Ripple, ServiceNow, and T-Mobile, as well as $1 million from cryptocurrency exchange Kraken and space-station developer Vast Space.
