This super cute app turns your iPhone Duo into tiny vintage Macs

It’s kind of ironic that the most fun apps we’ve seen for a brand new iPhone turn it into a decidedly old device. We’ve already seen a 1980s Sony Walkman emulator, and now Tiny Computers turns the Duo into a whole series of vintage Macs and more.

You can choose between four vintage Macs and a range of non-Apple machines from a similar era, including the Commodore 64 …

The first of the Apple devices is an OG Macintosh from 1984, reimagined as a laptop. Other Mac options are the iMac G3, iBook G3, and PowerBook G4.

Outside the Apple world, you get the Commodore 64, IBM PC, Amiga 500, ThinkPad, and two different laptops running Windows 95 and Windows XP.

Each of the machines offers a limited degree of functionality.

Enjoy clicking keyboards, working command lines, paint programs, floppy disks and familiar desktop games. Open windows, write a note, draw something small and explore each computer’s personality. Hidden files, secret commands and a medal for every computer’s game are waiting to be found. Occasionally, even Windows crashes.

As Daring Fireball’s John Gruber comments: “If you’ve got or get a Duo and don’t try this out, you’re not hooked up right.”

Tiny Computers is available on the App Store.
