Apple Original Films’ newest project is based on the award-winning graphic novel Telepaths. Here are the details.
Apple’s sci-fi slate keeps expanding
Apple announced today an upcoming sci-fi thriller called “Liminal,” starring Vanessa Kirby (Pieces of a Woman) and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Watchmen).
Based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel “Telepaths,” written by J. Michael Straczynski, Liminal will be directed by Louis Leterrier (Lupin).
Here’s what to expect from Liminal, based on the synopsis for Telepath on Amazon:
An electromagnetic disturbance results in the sudden awakening of telepathic powers in a tenth of the Earth’s population. In the moments after the world comes to grip with this development, newly-telepathic Boston police find themselves sent against a wrongly convicted prisoner who becomes a hero and leader of other telepaths trying to escape a world in which their powers will make them targets. Both are heroes of their own story, and the future may depend on whether or not trust can be found between them.
J. Michael Straczynski is widely known as a television writer, screenwriter, and creator. He’s best known for creating the sci-fi series Babylon 5, co-creating Netflix’s Sense8, and writing films such as Changeling, Ninja Assassin, and Underworld: Awakening.
Apple’s announcement didn’t include further details on casting, or a release window. As with early-stage announcements like this, it’ll likely be some time before the film arrives on Apple TV.
Apple TV is available for $12.99 per month and features hit TV shows and movies like F1 The Movie, Pluribus, Severance, The Studio, The Morning Show, Shrinking and Silo.
