Apple TV has three shows with finales this week, here’s what’s ending

Apple TV’s lineup of weekly releases will look a lot different after this week, as three shows all just aired their season finales.

Shrinking, The Hunt, and The Last Thing He Told Me all have season finales now available

If you’ve grown accustomed to certain new Apple TV shows dropping episodes every week, next week will bring a forced shakeup to your viewing habits.

That’s because three Apple TV series all aired season finales this week:

  • Shrinking, the Bill Lawrence comedy, wrapped up season 3
  • The Hunt, the French-language thriller, completed its first season too
  • The Last Thing He Told Me, the Jennifer Garner mystery drama dropped its season 2 finale today

Each show has officially ended—at least for now.

More recent Apple TV debuts that will continue airing for a while include Your Friends & Neighbors season 2, Imperfect Women, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Next week, the acclaimed comedy Margo’s Got Money Troubles will join them.

But what are Apple’s future plans for each show that just ended? Here’s what we know so far.

What’s next for each Apple TV series that wrapped up?

Out of the three shows above, only one is expected to continue on for a new season.

Shrinking season 4 is already confirmed to be coming.

Earlier this week, co-creator Bill Lawrence shared exciting updates about what to expect. Most notably, he confirmed that the entire ensemble cast is returning for another season—including Harrison Ford.

But for The Hunt and The Last Thing He Told Me, this week’s finales are likely the last episodes we’ll ever see.

The Hunt has a complicated history.

Apple first introduced the series as an original work, but later pulled it from its release calendar at the last minute due to claims of plagiarism. It was reportedly inspired by Douglas Fairbairn’s novel Shoot—unbeknownst to Apple. After a rights deal was agreed to, the show got a new release date.

It’s always possible a second season could happen, but due to the mess around the show’s origins, that seems unlikely.

The Last Thing He Told Me similarly has novels as its source material. The first season was based on the novel of the same name by author Laura Dave. Its second season was based on the sequel that released earlier this year.

While a third book might always be written in the future, the show hasn’t been particularly well received by critics or viewers. So it’s a fairly safe bet that Apple won’t mind having it end here.
