Apple TV’s gripping London thriller returns next week: first reviews here

Apple TV’s London-set crime thriller, Criminal Record, returns next week for a new season. Here’s what early reviews are saying about Criminal Record season 2.

Criminal Record season 2 reviews highlight strong sophomore outing

Over the last couple years, Apple has rapidly expanded its catalog of thriller series. So much so that thrillers have become by far the most common genre on Apple TV.

Next week, an acclaimed London-set crime thriller returns for a new season.

Criminal Record season 2 premieres Wednesday, April 22 with its first episode, followed by weekly releases through June 10.

The series stars Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo as rival detectives forced into an unlikely alliance.

Criminal Record’s season 2 trailer dropped last week, revealing a high-stakes plot centered around a domestic terrorist group planning a bombing.

The first season earned a strong 90% Rotten Tomatoes score, with critics praising the two leads and gripping mystery.

Early reviews for the new season have arrived, and it sounds like another winner.

  • FandomWire: “If you were a fan of Criminal Record season 1, you are in for an absolute treat with an even better second season
  • The Spool: “as compelling as the inaugural season”
  • Leisure Byte: “Season 2 is more ambitious and is able to deliver on the world-building that it wants to achieve”

If crime thrillers are among your go-to genres, Apple has several more unique series premiering soon that are outlined here.
