Apple says iPhone 17 lineup is officially the ‘most popular’ in its history

Apple reported another record-breaking quarter of earnings today, and it came with a big announcement about the iPhone 17 lineup: it’s now the company’s most popular model family ever.

iPhone 17 family sets a huge new milestone

Apple is celebrating another huge sales quarter, with wins across the board from all products.

But the iPhone is a huge contributor to that success. And while we knew the iPhone 17 family was selling very well, Apple just confirmed it has achieved a new milestone.

Apple CFO Kevan Parekh gave the following quote to the Financial Times:

The iPhone 17 family is now the most popular line-up in our history

Further specifics weren’t shared. Does this mean it’s the overall bestselling iPhone lineup ever? It certainly seems like that’s what Parekh is saying. Perhaps on the earnings call, Apple will confirm with more detail.

Parekh also told FT that Apple believes it “gained market share during the quarter.” Meaning the iPhone’s success is outpacing that of Android competitors overall.

A lot has been written about the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max being big hits. But the remarkable success of the whole lineup overall means that iPhone Air has to be a solid contributor too.

Even if the Air has underperformed some expectations, Apple clearly has every reason to celebrate its entire current flagship lineup.
