Cape Fear coming to Apple TV soon, here’s the new trailer

Apple TV is best known for its sci-fi series, comedies, and thrillers—but horror is hard to find.

Currently Apple is airing the acclaimed comedy-horror mashup Widow’s Bay, but a new series coming next month will lean even harder into the horror genre.

Cape Fear arrives Friday, June 5 with its first two episodes, followed by weekly releases through July 31.

It stars Javier Bardem, Amy Adams, and Patrick Wilson and is executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg.

Apple describes the show as a “psychological horror thriller,” indicating the fear element may be more psychological and not heavy on physical violence. But as the new trailer released today shows, that doesn’t mean it’s shy on horror vibes.

Here’s the official Cape Fear plot summary, followed by the trailer:

Inspired by the 1991 remake directed by Martin Scorsese and produced by Steven Spielberg, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) when Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison — and he wants vengeance.

Along with Cape Fear, Apple’s summer lineup includes the highly anticipated return of Ted Lasso, new seasons of several sci-fi hits, and a lot more.
