Update, 11:00 p.m ET: Apple’s System Status pages say all the issues have now been resolved. The original story follows below.
For the second time in a week, Apple is facing a widespread outage affecting services for end users and developers. Here are the details.
According to Apple’s System Status page, the following services are being affected by a partial outage:
- App Store: Some users are affected. Users may be unable to make purchases in the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and App Store.
- AppleCare on Device: All users are affected. AppleCare purchase is temporarily unavailable.
- iTunes Store: Some users are affected. Users may be unable to make purchases in the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and App Store.
- Mac App Store: Some users are affected. Users may be unable to make purchases in the iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and App Store.
- Subscription Purchase: Some users are affected Users may be experiencing intermittent issues with this service.
All issues started at 7:40 p.m. ET and are ongoing. Likewise, Apple’s Developer System Status page lists 2 ongoing issues, which started at 7:20 p.m. ET:
- App Store – Advanced Commerce API: Some users are affected. Affected Services: App Store – Advanced Commerce API, App Store – In-App Purchases. We are currently undergoing emergency maintenance in order to improve system performance. We estimate the maintenance will take two hours.
- App Store – In-App Purchases: Some users are affected. Affected Services: App Store – Advanced Commerce API, App Store – In-App Purchases. We are currently undergoing emergency maintenance in order to improve system performance. We estimate the maintenance will take two hours.
While Apple says the emergency maintenance affecting developer services should take about two hours, it has not provided an estimated resolution time for the outages affecting users directly.
