I’m always looking for the best possible case for my needs. I’m not the type of person that requires a bulky case with a lot of drop protection, but it’s nice to have something there to protect against scratches and small dings. The only option I’ve had in the past is to use a skin. It’s not always the best solution though, as a skin is nothing more than a thick sticker that will eventually start to wear and peel up at the edges.
Recently, I discovered Caudabe and their ultra thin iPhone 6 and 6 Plus case, The Veil. This isn’t the most protective case in the world, but it’s the perfect solution to my problem. It offers the same protection as a skin, with the advantages of a case. If your goal is to keep an iPhone clean and thin, there’s no better option…
The Veil is only 0.35mm thick. Yeah, that’s crazy thin for a case. Putting on The Veil is as easy as you’d assume. Just plop the iPhone inside of it and press down around the edges. This case features an open bottom design, much like Apple’s leather case, and has cutouts for all of the buttons and the mute switch. Once installed on an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus it’s almost like nothing is there at all. The case is made from plastic, slightly flexible, and is available in Frost or Wisp Black with a matte finish. It’s a bit slippery in the hands, but nothing worse than the iPhone 6 itself. I wish it had a rubberized finish to add some grip, but that’s not a deal breaker for myself.

Just in case you were wondering, The Veil will not solve any protruding camera issues you may have with the iPhone 6 or 6 Plus, but that’s because it’s thinner than the camera protrudes. So you’ll still have a little bump there, but that’s never been an issue for me. What you’re gaining is the experience of having a naked iPhone, but with added scratch and bump protection. Also, the front of The Veil is perfectly formed to the curved glass edges of the iPhone and leaves plenty of space for a screen protector.
Keep in mind, a case like this will not provide any drop protection. If you drop your iPhone with The Veil covering it, you might as well have dropped it without a case. I don’t see much protection coming from a case that’s 0.35mm thick, but that’s perfectly fine with me. I’m interested in this case because of its protection against scratches and small bumps.
The Veil is super thin.
I’ve never dropped a device before and The Veil will help protect the iPhone from things inside of my pocket and whenever I may put it down. Let’s face it, most of us sell our old device when upgrading and scratches will bring down its value. The Veil will help keep your iPhone looking fresh, but without the expense and sacrifices that come along with a traditional case.
Again, if you need rugged protection, you won’t find it here. That’s nothing I’ve ever cared for though. I’m a minimalist that needs a small amount of protection and combining The Veil with a screen protector is just enough. I’ve always loved minimalistic cases but the fact that it’s not rubberized it’s a deal breaker for me, regular plastic cases feel too slippery and I need a better grip of the phone.
Same here. Especially for the 6-plus, having a grippy case is a MUST. I haven’t gotten my phone yet but I’ve been searching up and down for a thin case that is grippy, doesn’t add bulk, and looks nice.
The black Thin Spigen case recommended in the comments is the one I use right now for my iPhone 6, it gives a better grip than plastic and it’s a bit thicker, it also exposes the top and the bottom of the iPhone, but I love it
Go for a Speck case with the textured ribs along the sides and back.
I use one on my S5 which has similar dimensions as your phone.
I just got my new iphone 6 case from faubashi.com it is only 0.3 mm I love it !!
I have this case myself and love it. It does exactly what I want it to do, protect the back from getting scratched from setting it down multiple times a day without taking away from the feel of the phone. As far as the slipperiness, it goes away with age. I actually took some car wax to my case and that made it better as well.
You may want to consider the Spigen Thin Fit. I have this as well as their Neo-Hybrid. I prefer the latter, but the Thin is close to what’s descibed above, with a matte/grip rubberized feel. It was dirt cheap before the phone came out :) It’s about 15 now.

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT use this case. In time it will leave some sort of residue that simply can’t be removed, no matter how hard you try, even chemicals.

Sorry to hear about your 5S…but thanks for the heads up on this. I was going to order it but decided not to. I love minimalist cases and thought this would have been great but I know I like to keep my iPhones pristine as well. So for that reason, I’m out.
I had a similar issue, although not as bad as yours, with a similar slim case and my iPhone 5. I think little pieces of dirt would get under the case and rub away at the finish. I’m not saying this case will do the same, but it’s something to think about anyway.
Not saying what you’re saying is nonsense, but it definitely doesn’t jive with my experience. My entire family and I use the 5s version of the Caudabe Veil and have been for almost a year. Our phones all look pristine. I recently got the 6 Plus version and love it. Great little case. Not for people who drop their phones a lot, but great for those who like keeping their phones slim.
This is by far the best case for iPhone if you’re looking for the thinnest and most minimalistic case. I’ve had this on my iPhone 5, 5s and now 6 Plus. I haven’t experienced this residue issue that you described. Did you contact Caudabe? They have awesome customer service!

I have both. They’re the exact same thing, including the seams which are definitely on the Spigen as well. The Caudabe is actually a little bit thinner than the Spigen which I personally prefer. But they’re both pretty much the same thing.
Might as well keep it naked, I just use a case that completely enclosea my 6 when I know ita going to be exposed to the elements

I’ve never been a chase guy. The iPhone 6 is actually the first phone that I’ve ever had a case on. However, I have searched high and low for cases, and the only one that seems to work for me is the Product Red [leather] Apple case.
The Red case is great looking. After 3 months though, it will look like you wiped your rear end with it. The Spigen cases are the Best. I don’t know why you can’t get them in stores. It is a real shame!

Great review. I bought the Caudabe for my iPhone 6 and love it. So thin! I actually had the same case for my 5s and also loved it. I ended up buying the frost one for my girlfriend as well.
Definitely be careful of the cheapo knockoff ones on Ebay and Amazon though, as some people in the comments here seem to suggest they’re similar to the Caudabe. There’s a reason the Ebay ones are really cheap – you get what you pay for. I bought one for my 5s and it took a month to get to me from China, then was partly mangled when it got to me. The texture was also different than the one I had for Caudabe. Not necessarily worse, but definitely different.
Elago Slimfit cases have always been my go-to cases for my phones. Simple, thin, elegant. And for $10 you can’t go wrong

I just ordered the Shumuri. I prefer the way it covers the entire bottom, giving it a more seamless look. Never had a case before but these new ultra thin cases seem to be an excellent alternative to a skin.
