Apple Stores to start selling new Apple TV on Friday

The new Apple TV went on pre-order via Apple’s online store earlier this week, and priority deliveries will begin this Friday while standard shipments will begin arriving after this upcoming weekend. Now, we’ve learned that Apple is planning to begin selling the new set-top-box at its retail stores this Friday. Apple retail employees say that stores are beginning to receive shipments to sell at the end of this week, while stores will be re-organized overnight on Thursday to promote the new Apple TV in stores on Friday. The new Apple TV costs $149 and $199, depending on either a 32GB or 64GB configuration, and includes a new user-interface, Siri, upgraded remote control, and an App Store.

In addition to Apple Retail Stores, Best Buy and B&H plus other resellers have opened up pre-orders or plan to begin selling the new Apple TV soon. Best Buy currently lists both 32GB and 64GB models as available for pre-order with store inventory expected November 4th. Looks like I’ll be waiting in line and returning the Apple TV I ordered online. :-)

“waiting in line” ? I am not sure you will see Apple TV lines, you can probably just buy the thing….its not an iPhone

True. What I should have said was I’ll be making a trip to the Apple Store on Friday. ;-)

Highly doubtful we’ll see lines. Still, initial supply may be limited

So, I didn’t have to go through all the rigmarole of pre-ordering and paying for overnight shipping, when I could waltz into the Apple store and pick one up on Friday probably before mine gets delivered? Kinda not liking that.

Not sure why best buy and b&h are taking so long to sell it. Most Micro Centers will have it in stock and available this Friday. Looking forward to buying the 64GB model. Hopefully the HomeKit features will be enabled.

Well, that’s annoying. I pre-ordered mine and it won’t arrive until Monday or Tuesday.

  5. Weird. Just cancelled my online order that was set to deliver Monday-Wednesday next week. Planning to pick one up this Friday in-store. Hope this article is correct!

I was going to cancel my online order that had a delivery timeframe of November 2nd to November 4th. The delivery info changed over night. Now it will be delivered today, October 30th.
