Apple’s Stocks app gets a rare update in iOS 18.2 with one key feature

iOS 18.2 is releasing any day now, bringing a huge update for iPhone users. The focus of the update is the second wave of Apple Intelligence features, but it also brings a nice enhancement to one of Apple’s least-updated apps: Stocks.

New pre-market trading info comes to Stocks in iOS 18.2

The Stocks app doesn’t tend to get a lot of attention from Apple. After years without much change, Apple brought some big upgrades in iOS 13, such as Apple News integration and a design refresh. Since then, there have been some small enhancements, but overall the app has mostly stayed untouched.

In iOS 18.2, while Apple is still leaving Stocks mostly as-is, one nice upgrade is coming to help users better track pre-market trading.

From the iOS 18.2 release notes:

Pre-market price quotes in Stocks lets you track NASDAQ and NYSE tickers prior to market open

It’s not a huge feature, but when you’re talking about a seldom-changed app like Stocks, any love from Apple is noteworthy.

For users who mostly check the Stocks app during normal trading hours, this addition won’t make much of an impact. But if you’re an early bird who always seeks to get an edge with the latest information, now Apple’s Stocks app can provide that.

Do you find iOS 18.2’s Stocks update a helpful change? What other feature additions do you hope to see? Let us know in the comments.
