For the past few weeks, we have been testing out the Olloclip iPhone camera lens kit on an iPhone 4S. The Olloclip kit is a camera add-on for the iPhone that provides three external lenses: a fish-eye lens, a macro lens, and a wide-angle lens. The kit is perfect for any photography fan or for anyone who wants to drastically improve the photos they take with their iPhone. Read on for the full review:
The lens kit is fairly small, and it includes a single iPhone adapter that features the three additional lenses, lens caps, and a carrying bag that doubles as a cleaning cloth. The lens adapter is easily placeable on the iPhone. A user simply needs to slide on the adapter over the iPhone’s camera lens. One side of the lens adapter features the fish-eye, and the other side features the wide-angle lens and the macro lens. The double-feature side is a twistable dial: twist one way for wide-angle and the other for Macro. It’s very intuitive.
While the kit is very easy to setup, how good are the photos it takes? We’ve been taking a lot of photos with the kit, and we are very surprised and impressed with the kit’s performance. We’ve put together comparison shots between the same photo taken with and without the Olloclip lenses. We’ve done this with the Fish-eye and the Macro:
Fish-eye:
Above: No Fish-eye. Below: Yes Fish-eye. Notice how much more content is present with the Fish-eye on
Macro lens:
Above: Non-Macro. Below: Macro. Same coin, same distance. Very impressive results.
The Ollopclip camera lens kit obviously makes already impressive iPhone photos even more impressive. We recommend it for anyone who wants results like the above, people who really need sharper shots as depicted in the coin comparison. The Olloclip set is available for $69.99.
