Accessory maker LunaTik teases water-resistant Epik protective kit for Apple Watch

Accessory maker LunaTik today teased a new protective product for the upcoming Apple Watch. Not many features of the Epik Apple Watch Kit have been revealed, but the case is said to provide a level of water resistance that should allow you to use it while swimming, showering, or engaging in many other water-related activities.

Of course, Tim Cook recently said that the Apple Watch will be showerproof, which means the device may already have a similar level of water resistance. All will be revealed when all of the watch’s details are revealed on March 9th. The Apple Watch will go on sale in April, but no date has been given for the Epik kit.

That you can pull the bands off of the Apple Watch makes it very easy to make an encapsulation case like this. It will be interesting to see what else people will think of along those lines.

Lunatik makes excellently designed accessories, like the Aquatik, Taktik 360, Flak and Seismik cases for iPhone that are a big step up from the rest of the case market.
I think for people who are concerned about bulk, there’s the fact that you aren’t required to use it. What I would consider is buying this as an active accessory. I pre-ordered a Taktik 360 for backpacking trips and high-activity events. Perhaps, this kit could allow someone to go diving or do a canoe trip with their Apple Watch.

3rd party support is another reason why the investment into this smartwatch is worth the premium over others in my opinion. I envision plenty of watch bands, waterproof capsules and potentially if allowed battery packs.

I hope very much you are not serious! So, you buy a watch, which by the nature of the device and it’s use, should and needs to be compact and ‘out of the way’, but pretty when exposed. And then, after all the expense, you are expected to pay more for something that adds functionality that should be built in as standard, such as decent battery life and water resistance?

If this is the case, I so hope the Apple Watch is going to be a huge flop and teaches Apple to stop taking the piss and existing simply about supply chain logistics, which is Mr. Cook’s background and focus.

I’m getting the lovely looking LG Urbane or a Pebble Time, both more practical and they work with more platforms.

Thanks, I am. Just had breaded fish, mash & peas, with a large dollop of ketchup at Ikea. Yum!

I do ably won’t use a case like this on my Apple Watch: but I think it looks awesome! We’re going to see tons of cool accessories for this thing!

Interesting. I have their metal band for the iPod nano. If they do a metal band for this, then that is an option should the metal Apple Watch be too expensive.

Sure I’d like the Apple Watch with link bracelet instead of the sport. But if it’s too much over $1000 vs $349 for sport, I’d have a hard time justifying that. But $349 for Apple Watch Sport and maybe $149 for a metal LunaTik case is an option…

I love this idea. This is just the beginning of a ton of accessories for the Apple Watch. Otterbox for the Apple Watch maybe?

I wish they would spend a little more time trying to get their iPhone 6 flagship cases out the door first.
I have been waiting quite a while.

  8. I am looking forward for this case . I think there are so many other accessories for the apple watch in the market now . you can check some in http://www.kaykayyo.com .

Lunatic may work for the iPod nano(?)(the pre-Watch one ;-) but here it looks, well, “big” …
