Apple Watch Edition at Apple Watch Sport (+can of spray paint) price?

It is what is on the inside that counts, right? All Apple Watches are the same under the skin and Casey Neistat, semi-famous for other Apple launch videos, decided he was going to turn his $399 Apple Watch into a $399 Apple Watch with gold spray paint on it. The idea is that passersby would think it was an Edition, and all that comes along with that, I guess.

To be honest, the spray paint better matches the “Aluminum Gold” iPhones, iPads and now MacBooks but I have to imagine the button/crown and some of the sensors will take a hit.

I’m almost entirely confused why you would spend an extra $50 on the space grey model only to spray paint it gold?

    • mrmagoo85 - 9 years ago

The space gray model doesn’t cost an extra $50. The increase from 38mm to 42mm costs $50.

i’m confused why you think the space gray model costs $50 more, maybe check the pricing again… Also the black band is only available with the space gray sport.

        Yah I got confused. It’s 50 more for 38mm vs 42mm

I can imagine that the 2nd Gen Apple Watch will have a champagne gold option to sync up with the current Apple devices.

This will go well with the Edition I’m going to buy, sandblast, and spray with silver spray paint.

..and to reduce weight, snap an ion x cover glass on that bad boy! ..maybe some tasteful bedazzling

The bits with the packaging and knife were painful to watch. Must he carve into the box to remove the plastic wrap? Yikes!

I think he got the reaction he wanted there!

  6. It’s not his Watch, only his idea.
The owner is a dude from The Verge, as stated in the video.

I love how he outs the watch on upside down at the end.

Brilliant. What’s great about it is less the spray, more the “don’t give a #### about Apple’s packaging and I’m going to cut the #### out of it.” I love Apple’s packaging but Casey’s got a great attitude which at times is over the top with “#### you” but it’s refreshing among all the unboxing videos of people fetishizing Apple products (which I’m inclined to do as well).

    Go Casey.

  9. How to ruin a perfect watch with a spray can. This guy is definitely retarded.

    • rollzey - 9 years ago

No he’s not. This guy is an absolute legend. You have to (yes HAVE TO) check out his videos. Inspirational and interesting. Enjoy.

    Apple Watch: $399

    Can of gold paint: $3.99

Hospital bill after someone smashes you in the head to steal your fake $12,000 watch: Priceless

Never leave your watch unattended around your girlfriend. The underside of the watch will not state that it’s 18 karat gold. It will just be blank since you spray painted over it…. Lol that’s bootleg.

I think you’ve inhaled to much spray paint…
