As long as the mouse secures to the table and surface has enough stability to accept multi-touch gestures without moving across the table when doing so - this would be so great.
With the iPhone and a new MacBook Pro - I kinda miss multi-touch when using the Mac Pro.
A flat surface interface, like say - a Wacom tablet that also accepts multi-touch would be very cool in my opinion as well.
I actually think it's likely that apple will inteoduce new keyboards - USB and Bluetooth - that have the new buttonless trackpad built in. That it a standalone buttonkess trackpad surface. With so man apps taking advantage of multi touch, apple can't afford to leave the iMac/mini/pro customers out of the game.
Picture an ipod touch sized glass trackpad on your desk - hotness!!!!
Is it just me or does it look Gesture Friendly. Im not sure how easy it would be, but it sure would be nice. That would mean that desktops like the iMac and the Pro would accept Gestures as well.
Sadly, the Mighty Mouse track ball does get clogged up after a few months if you pick your nose frequently while using the mouse. It turns out that those boogers land right in there and fester.
"Oh, but I don't pick my nose that much". Yeah, right. If it's not you, then it's your wife. Someone does. It's a known flaw. Even the manual says "don't pick your nose while Might Mousing. You did read the manual, right? It convinced me to stop - perhaps that's why I am still using the Might Mouse I bought soon after the v1 release. It hasn't clogged yet!

I personally have used the mighty mouse quite a bit on campus, and the mouse is okay, but it could definitely use a new upgrade like this new mouse. I am using a MacBook Pro, and since I have the trackpad (not a new one with the glass), I have no obligation to buy a mighty mouse or any other mouse because the trackpad is perfect as I see it. With that said, I think that if this prototype sketch is a real deal thing, I would probably feel very moved to buy it. I mean, I bought the apple remote, and that was $20 for a clicker that changes songs and the volume! I would like to see more information or a future demo on the "Mighty Mouse 2.0". I think I could definitely be persuaded to get one.
Wouldn't this also make it a single button mouse again? I mean the sides are push buttons, but they aren't main top clicking buttons anymore. The multi-touch trackpad is built into the clicker, making it either THE clicker, or??? what?
Or am I just thinking too deep into the concept?
Nevertheless, the new mighty mouse is cool looking, but I think that if you put your hand on that mouse with an aluminum body, it might be one cold mouse when you first mess with it, and possibly one warm mouse after extended use!

Apple's bluetooth keyboard
Apple's bluetooth keyboard with a slimmed down number pad and a multi-touch trackpad under it would be perfect IMO.

I assume a two finger click would be a right click.Hmm... good question...
A better idea would be to
A better idea would be to release a trackpad built into the apple keybaord for all the desktops. The mighty mouse is a piece of crap.
mighty mouse?
That's Apple's new concept electric car. That touchpad area is actually the canopy which doubles as a collector.
