Joining the new “Space Gray” iPhone 5s, the 32/64GB versions of the iPod touch, iPod nano, and iPod shuffle can now be ordered in new color as well. This might indicate that the iPod line won’t be seeing any update this season/year, since Apple is going through the effort to add the additional color.
The iPod touch sports a 4-inch Retina display, but it is still powered by the A5 chip (the A7 chip was just announced today for the iPhone 5s).
Thanks, Loren!

I’m guessing since the 16gb 5th gen touch was released in may, and now we have a new color in September, that the touch won’t get a redesign/update until next fall? The 4th gen was released with the iPhone 4, then it was just updated with a white model the following year when the 4s was released.
I have the 64 gig iPod Touch 5. I’m kind of glad that there’ll be no update to the Touch line this year. It’ll be easier to afford the new iPad 5, since I have the iPad 3.
I just ordered one exactly like yours. I’m hoping there won’t be an update in October or something. It seems unlikely with the base model release in May and the new color yesterday.
