Update: Apple says services have been restored shortly after 3 pm.
Readers have been reporting and now Apple has confirmed that many iCloud services are down. The problems began just after 1 PM ET today and appear to run the gamut of Apple’s Cloud services.

My .me and .icloud branded accounts were fine. I lost service on my old .mac account so I lost all shared calendars since they are under that account.
This happened for me while I was having my iPhone serviced at the Apple store. Resulted in some weird additional issues.
Sadly “Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable” appears to be ongoing. We’ve been suffering it for several hours here now. It was an unfortunate day to decide to install the latest iOS 8 beta.
